Beginning Orchestra

Open to all incoming students beginning their education at Three Oaks Middle School. No prior musical experience or knowledge is required. This course is designed to introduce the new student to the wonderful world of orchestra music. The student will be introduced to basic instrumental technique necessary to perform in an ensemble. Topics include: How to Play Your Instrument, Introduction To Reading Music, Basic Musicianship and Music Theory, Bowing Techniques, and Performance Standards.

Select seventh and eighth grade students (new to the orchestra program at Three Oaks) will be placed in an orchestra based on their talent and other factors. Students will have the opportunity to switch ensembles depending on their progress. See Mr. Knecht for details.

The Three Oaks Middle School Orchestra Program is known for its excellent musicians. This came through a commitment of the students, the director, the parents, and our school staff. By continuing in chorus throughout your middle school career, you are being provided the opportunity to develop a life long love of music, as well as to be a part of very special educational and musical ensemble!
