Beginning Choir:

Open to all incoming sixth grade students beginning their education at Three Oaks Middle School. No prior musical experience or knowledge is required. This course is designed to introduce the new choir student to the wonderful world of choral music. The student will be introduced to basic choral technique necessary to perform in an ensemble. Topics include: vocal technique, warm-ups, vowels and consonants, diction, breathing, understanding human anatomy including the diaphragm, vocal folds, larynx, posture, introduction to reading music, basic musicianship and music theory, unison and two -part harmonization, “speaking” voice and the “yawning” voice, posture, and performance standards.

Select seventh and eighth grade students (new to the chorus program at Three Oaks) will be placed in a choir based on their vocal talents. Students will have the opportunity to switch ensembles depending on their progress. See Mr. Knecht for details.


The Three Oaks Middle School Chorus Program is known for its excellent musicians. This came through a commitment of the students, the director, the parents, and our school staff. By continuing in chorus throughout your middle school career, you are being provided the opportunity to develop a life long love of music, as well as to be a part of very special educational and musical ensemble!
